Conference Objectives

The XX World’s Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf is held every four years hosted by an Ordinary Member of the WFD and always takes place right after the WFD General Assembly.

The XX World’s Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf is a fantastic opportunity for the global deaf communities to come together, share experiences, and learn from each other.

The Congress has several goals:

Respecting and highlighting WFD’s values and work
Highlighting the various activities involving deaf people and sign languages around the world
Providing knowledge and materials to participants for their advocacy and activities

Can women attend and participate fully at the Congress?

Absolutely. The UAE Constitution guarantees equal rights for all and women in the UAE are active leaders in business, government, and community life. You’ll find no restrictions on attending, speaking, or participating in any of the Congress activities.

Are there any restrictions on topics that can be discussed?

The UAE warmly welcomes everyone and values inclusion and diverse voices. We encourage all delegates to respect the UAE’s cultural and societal values while still engaging openly on the Congress theme of inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment.

What should I keep in mind when creating media or sharing content?

We’re proud to host a global event and want your experiences to be shared widely. When taking photos or recording videos, please always obtain prior consent from the person being filmed. It is also advisable to familiarise yourself with UAE law on the sharing of content on social media.

How does the UAE approach inclusion in general?
