The XX World’s Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf 2027 in Abu Dhabi is made possible through the collaboration of leading organizations dedicated to advancing inclusion, accessibility, and the empowerment of Deaf communities worldwide.
Founded in 1951, the WFD represents more than 70 million Deaf people worldwide and works with member organizations in over 130 countries. As the global organizer, WFD ensures the Congress upholds its mission: promoting the human rights of Deaf people, advancing recognition of national sign languages, and strengthening Deaf communities across the world. The XX Congress in Abu Dhabi continues this legacy, bringing together leaders, advocates, educators, and professionals from every region.
As the main organizer, ZA leads the planning and delivery of the Congress, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to empowering People of Determination. ZA has a long-standing role in providing services, initiatives, and advocacy that promote inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities. Through this Congress, ZA is positioning Abu Dhabi as a global hub for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in the field of Deaf rights and sign language advancement.
As the national voice of the Deaf community in the UAE, the UAE Deaf Association plays a vital role as co-organizer. The Association works closely with ZA and WFD to ensure the Congress reflects the aspirations, culture, and priorities of the local Deaf community. Its contributions help ensure that the event is inclusive, accessible, and representative of both Emirati and global Deaf perspectives.
